    Automating Against the August Heat

Published by Charlotte Emery on Sep 6th 2023

If you are on the fence, hop over. We live in SC and I have to water every day, it's the sandhills. In August I need to water twice a day. Needless to say I am not as consistent hand watering as I should be and the raised beds suffer. So, I lower my standards and just hope to keep things alive until September breaks the heat. We got the watering system, originally two, but thengot the extra three when the super sale came through. And finally at the end of July overcame my fear of the unknown and set them up. I thought it would be too hard for me to understand... I can be a bit foolish about stepping outside my comfort zone, but finall felt so bad for my little lettuce babies... It went together so easy. I started out just to get the parts out for my husband to address and was halfway through the project by the time he could join me. We had all the parts me needed to set up the system: connecters, tubing, clips, etc. When I first got it out I was afraid we'd hit a snag and need to order some little thing to finish up, because how could GS plan for how my planters are set up? But it worked, easily and well. And so each and every day in August they have been watered, twice day for two minutes and they thrive! Back to homemade salad, because store bought lettuce is such a disappointment! Worth every effort. My only regret is that I let the fear of the unknown delay me in taking action.

    Spring Automatic Watering System

Published by T Morse on Aug 23rd 2023

I really appreciate the Automatic Watering System! I work a lot which means sometimes my gardening gets neglected, including the watering. I really appreciate the option of setting an automatic timer and knowing that my GreenStalk Garden will be watered even if I'm too tired or don't have time to water it. I thought it was simple to put together but does take some muscle in the hands. I have a bit of arthritis in my hands so it did take some effort on my part to connect all of the tubing. However, I do think it would be very simple for those who have normal hands. I would have given this a 4.5 stars if I could because I wish there was some way I could spin them without disconnecting the tubing. If they were able to engineer that, that would truly be a 5 star rating... well, maybe above a 5 ;)

    Automatic watering system

Published by Courtney Cooper on Aug 14th 2023

I've really enjoyed having the watering system over the summer to help keep my watering schedule consistent, especially over long weekends and vacation travel. It was easy to set up, and with a timer (sold separately) hooked up to my outdoor faucet, I knew the towers were getting everything they needed while I was away. I do wish there was a better way to turn the towers while it's still attached - if so, I'd leave it up and running all summer long! :)

Spring Watering System and Bluetooth timer

Published by Cathy Clontz on Aug 5th 2023

I have enjoyed my Spring Watering Systems with the Bluetooth timers. It saves a lot of time spent watering. I wish the 1/2” hoses were softer and more flexible. Sometimes mine tend to bend and form a crease if I’m not careful when moving and turning my planters, so I know to keep an eye on them. I was a bit hesitant to set them up on the timers but they work great. I have a timer for each of my 2 faucets and I have enough for all 8 GreenStalks when I have them set up as 5 & 7 tier. The lids help keep the spout in place, but if it rains I feel they would get watered better without the lids. So when I wanted a better watering from rain I took the lids off a couple times. They have taken away my fear of leaving my GreenStalks for a few days when I need to be out of town. I suggest getting a few extra clips- sometimes mine jump off and hide from me in the pockets when I spin them too far.

I bought 2. then i bought 2 more. ...I plan on buying 2 more... then 2 more after that! Love them! ❤️ I have only used them for this season, but stuff is growing well. i am still experimenting with what to put in it. i bought most of the seed bundles and used those with the planters. we are having good luck. make sure you use the suggested type of dirt and make sure the planters are level so they drain correctly!

This has been a wonderful addition to my greenstalks. I am terrible about remembering to water my garden but now I don't have to worry about it. We also travel quite a bit and this removes the complication of finding someone to care for my plants while I'm gone. I was always having to remove the basin and clean it out because of debris finding it's way into it but the lid has solved the problem for me, it's AMAZING. I like the different connections that come with the system which allows for flexibility in connecting them. I do wish the system came with a few more clips to attach it to the planter. This would allow for removing, turning, and reattaching to be a bit easier. I am still trying to work out how to spin my towers without having to remove the pipe from the side repeatedly but overall I love the concept of this system and will be using it for all of my greenstalks.

The perfect solution for the forgetful gardener!

Published by Rachel Godfrey on Jul 17th 2023

As a forgetful gardener, irrigation is integral to my success. I have set up many makeshift options for watering my greenstalks in the past. What's great about this company is that they listen!! What a fantastic solution they are offering and for a very reasonable price. Setup was super simple taking only a few minutes. A minor problem of wanting to be able to rotate my greenstalk with the support in place was solved by adding a little slack to the hose at the bottom. I can turn it back and forth 180 degrees without problem. Never having to worry if I remembered to water is such a game changer. No more debris falling in the reservoir, no more lifting heavy buckets or pulling out the hose. Pair it with a timer and I can go out of town, or simply, forget all about watering. I know my plants are cared for and I can just enjoy my harvests. I have the Bluetooth timer and setup was a breeze in the app. Make sure you have 2 AA batteries!

    Love the watering system!

Published by Jennifer Becker on Jul 14th 2023

I received this a few months ago, but it was raining so much that I had to wait to actually water anything! It was super easy to set up, easy to use, and saves me time. I love that you can connect up to 8 (if you’ve got good enough water pressure), but even for the 4 in my backyard it’s good. If I had anything negative it would be that the kids don’t stay on in nasty wind, but I put some weight on it and it hasn’t budged. Can’t wait to set up my other greenstalks with this system.

    A new must have accessory

Published by Cody G. on Jul 9th 2023

The automatic watering system was the accessory that I have been waiting for. My favorites are the frost cover, the spinner base, and now the automatic watering system. I still work and I have found that my garden does best when it isn't reliant on me to make sure it is watered. Could you design something yourself? Yes, yes you could, but it won't be pretty. However, this system is made with the same quality materials as the greenstalk and is purpose built. I was blown away by how fast the system filled the basin on top, in less than a minute, it was topped off and almost overflowing. Installation was far easier than I expected, 10 minutes tops, easy to move or adjust if needed. I like that the lid keeps items from falling into the basin and potentially clogging the holes, so useful for that reason alone. When you add the timer to the equation, this system checks all the boxes. I got the bluetooth timer offered by greenstalk, it was very easy setup as well and fortunately allowed me to set the runtime at just a minute. The system also comes with the hardware to allow you to expand the system. I intend to install another system for my other tower and I am interested to see how I need to adjust the run time, but the timer offers me that flexibility. This system lets you focus on the fun parts of gardening. I would love to see some of the legacy colors come back to provide matching lids for the old systems.

    Watering system

Published by Kim Edgeman on Jun 29th 2023

The watering system for the planters has been wonderful. It makes it easier and less time consuming to turn be able to water both my planters pretty much at the same time. Not having to hold my hose to water also gives me time to pull off dead leaves and do a little harvesting while watering. Which is super helpful during hot Georgia summers. If I need to water one planter a little more than the other I simply adjust the valve at the top of the system. The watering system is a great addition to my little garden.
